Playing for Keeps: Challenges to Sustaining a World Class UK Games Sector is a wide-ranging research project initiated by UKTI, DTI (now BERR) and Tiga, and conducted by
Games Investor Consulting, which looks at the state of play for games development in the UK and how it compares to the rest of the world.
The aim was to build on existing work conducted by Tiga to deliver
detailed evidence-based research into the current and future states of the UK games industry with a focus on the creation of new games intellectual property, the ability of new companies to start up in the UK and
the barriers to inward investment by overseas companies into the UK.
The research was conducted in late 2006 and early 2007 and is being
published as a number of monographs. The first three monographs have now been released and are available to download through the following links:
Monograph 1 - Country Profiles: Games Investor Consulting provides detailed profiles the UK games sector alongside the USA, Canada, South Korea, France, Australia and Singapore using a series of key performance indicators. UK developer survey results and analysis also included.

in the UK since the birth of the UK games industry (Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto, Championship Manager, Burnout, Worms, Black and White, Elite, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Driver, Runescape). UK developer survey results
and analysis also included.
