First Doctor Who Adventure Game reaches huge audience (August 10)

Doctor Who The Adventure Games have won a big audience after the release of the first episode in late May and the second in July. Generating 524,000 downloads in 12 days and over 1.3 million downloads to date, the first 2 epidodes have generated an enthusiastic response from reviewers and players alike.

GIC's longest-running project came out of stealth mode in April, and the first of 4 episodes was revealed in May, to huge media interest.

GIC has been working with Simon Nelson, Controller of Vision Multiplatform and Portfolio, the BBC Cardiff television and interactive production teams, Sumo Digital and Charles Cecil on the project since its inception. GIC was asked by Simon Nelson to help define the opportunity for a BBC public service game based on Doctor Who. GIC were then asked to assist the BBC through the entire pre-production, production and launch process. This included defining the game's vision to senior BBC executives, bringing in Charles Cecil to advise and exec produce the game, advising on pitching, selection and green lighting of the project, and giving strategic guidance throughout development through to launch.

You can read coverage about this pioneering BBC games initiative in the Telegraph, the Guardian, the Sun, Broadcast, PC Gamer, BBC, Gamesindustry.biz, MCV, and Develop. PC Gamer and Develop have multi-page articles including interviews with Stephen Moffat, Simon Nelson, Charles Cecil and Sumo.
